About my taste in fanfics.

Star Trek fics
I'm combining recs for all series here. Generally speaking, I'll expect people to be able to tell from the characters involved which series is/are involved.

Absinthe Heart by Seema
This second person narrative shows Quark's view of Ezri and his memories of Jadzia. The voice is just right. (Added 2 March 2006)

Closure by Seema
Ezri and Jake help each other deal with memories after the series finale. (Added 19 May 2005)

Colorblind by duck
Firefly/Star Trek: Next Generation. River follows a crow into a perfect hiding place. Once there, she finds a place that's perfect, apart from those she's left behind. I could feel the difficulty of River's choices here. (Added 6 November 2005)

Crossroads by Selena
Star Trek: The Next Generation/Star Wars. While traveling, Wesley accidentally crosses into the universe of the Jedi and meets Obi Wan and Anakin. I particularly enjoyed Wesley's opinions on the Jedi and their policies. This isn't a brilliant crossover, and it's not all that plot heavy, but it's competent and definitely unexpected. (Added 20 Jan. 2005)

The Dance by Jemima Pereira
Tom Paris writes a letter to an alien dignitary to explain the events he witnessed. The strength of this piece is the way it slowly describes the crew's leisure activities and personal interactions. (Added 26 Oct. 2004)

A Discreet Private Inquiry by Henrietta Wotton
Garak tells a story from his days in the Obsidian Order. Even then, he had his own code of ethics. (Added 2 March 2006)

Done by Kathleen Dailey
Buffy/Star Trek: the Original Series. Anyanka knows all about weddings gone wrong. She finds that they're much the same, even on other planets. (Added 12 Feb. 2005)

An Element of Blank by Calapine
Doctor Who/Star Trek. The Doctor meets Dax on Deep Space 9. She very nearly understands. (Added 8 June 2006)

Everybody Else's Girl by Mosca
Troi's view of her romantic life and of the rest of her life. I like that she has ambitions of her own, goals that she puts before romance. (Added 20 April 2006)

Fire Bringer by Deborah Judge
This brutal little story shows Dukat's view of himself and his gods. None of it's nice, and he embraces violence against himself. Kira's actions are also rather squicky. (Added 2 March 2006)

Five Things That Never Happened to Kira Nerys by Rocky
Exactly what the title says. The author manages to capture some very interesting what ifs for Kira. (Added 20 April 2006)

Fortunate Voyager by Mara Greengrass
Enterprise/X-Men. Severe stress causes Scott Summers to use a power he hadn't known he had, stranding him, Logan and two students in another universe. (Added 17 December 2005)

From Me to Q by Julia Houston
Picard and his crew persist in their mission to retrieve Federation observers from a dangerous planet even in the face of Q's warnings against their chosen course. Naturally, there's a lot more going on than meets the eye. There's even more going on than Q knows. (Added 2 March 2006)

Ghost in the Machine by nostalgia
Ezri fights Dax. Constantly. Short and not very happy. (Added 20 April 2006)

Hard by KayJay
Life as an explorer isn't easy. Archer reflects on the possible price as his crew explores an alien wreck. (Added 5 July 2005)

In Pursuit of Justice by Rocky
Janeway faces a court martial for the attempted murder of Noah Lessing after Voyager's return to the Alpha Quadrant. (I've never seen the episode in which the incident in question occurred, but I found the story quite easy to follow.) (Added 26 Oct. 2004)

Judgment Day by Alara Rogers
The war in the Q-continuum could have had immense repercussions for all of reality. The fics in this arc look at what might have happened, the worst case scenario. The stories fit together to form a mosaic. Sadly, the arc's not completed. (Added 6 November 2005)

The Long Haul by Yahtzee
Kira and Odo prepare for the arrival of the Federation. Neither knows what to expect. (Added 2 March 2006)

Marketing by Hobsonfile
Sirella sues Quark for using her image in a commercial holosuite program. This manages both Klingon and Ferengi humor. (Added 16 December 2005)

A Matter of Pride by Laurus Nobilis
CLAMP/Star Trek. Q decides to teach Clow a lesson. Humor. (Added 31 July 2006)

A Matter of Faith by Mrs. Spock
Working among the Romulans isn't easy for Spock nor is it easy for the Romulans who choose to follow him. (Added 8 June 2006)

Not In Front of the Children by Sue Castle
Not long after a visit from Q, strange things start happening around Tom Paris. (Added 26 Oct. 2004)

The One Who Got Away by Selena
Farscape/Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Quark tells Odo a story about a gray skinned thief. (Added 30 March 2005)

Orfeo by Macedon
When Bajor hosts a music festival, welcoming artists from all over the Federation, Jake Sisko finds himself unexpectedly facing questions about identity and choice in the context of art, culture and religion when he meets a Vulcan singer who is a castrato. (Added 19 Nov. 2004)

Pilgrimage by Jamelia
T'Pel, Tuvok's wife, visits Deep Space 9. (Added 8 June 2006)

Questions by Flora
Jadzia considers what she has in common with each of Dax's past hosts. (Added 16 January 2006)

Res-Q by AstroGirl
Farscape/Star Trek: the Next Generation. A certain all too powerful alien takes a personal interest in John Crichton. (Added 30 March 2005)

Serenterprise-D by inlovewithnight
Firefly/Star Trek: Next Generation. Just little interactions between the two crews. Amusing little interactions between the two crews. (Added 15 June 2005)

Seven Days by Seperis
An alien attack forces Paris to take command of Voyager. He and his crew have to make some very tough choices, and the worst part isn't over when the crisis passes. (Added 19 Nov. 2004)

There and Back Again by Beth
Stargate: SG-1/Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Samantha Carter exits a wormhole in a very different place than she expected. (Added 21 March 2005)

The Trouble with Trill-Bats by Flora
Farscape/Star Trek: Deep Space 9. A little wormhole trouble drops Moya near Deep Space 9. While her crew is on the station, intruders beam in and try to take over. (Added 30 March 2005)

Two Worlds by Deborah Judge
The author's summary is best: "How Elim Garak helped young Vedek Opaka become Kai." (Added 27 April 2008)

Unless You're Us by Kathleen Dailey
Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Star Trek: the Original Series. Two characters bond a little after a group counseling session for the recently returned from the dead. The story's short and largely humorous, not even trying to reconcile the canons. (Added 6 November 2005)

Untitled by Sloane
Data tries to understand death and mourning after Tasha's death. (Added 2 March 2006)

A War Report by Mosca
Every Friday, Captain Sisko posts the new casualty lists. Each person responds differently, with their own rituals, and Jake has some questions for Odo about his. (Added 16 January 2006)

Wholesale by Dead Ship
(Blake's 7/Deep Space 9) A wormhole accident throws Garrick into another universe. (Added 17 Feb. 2005)
