About my taste in fanfics.

I've combined all types of Tolkien recs here. It made sense to me.

Across Dark Waters by Zimraphel
Ferrying the dead to the afterlife is a hard task, one given to those deserving of it. (Added 12 Feb. 2005)

Aglarrama by Zimraphel
Ordinary people lived ordinary lives during the last days of Numinor. (Added 2 March 2006)

Alqualonde by Joan Milligan
A poet walks the streets of Alqualonde after the massacre. (Added 12 Feb. 2005)

As Little Might Be Thought by Deborah
Maglor fostered Elrond and Elros after the sack of Sirion. Tolkien offers few details of this relationship, but it can hardly have developed easily. This is one author's view of how it might have happened. (Added 12 Feb. 2005)

Bargaining for Beginners by Honesty
Celebrimbor and Narvi made the Doors of Moria. This is the author's view on how they might have first met and become friends. (Added 12 Feb. 2005)

The Care and Feeding of Hobbits by Baylor
Boromir learns a lot about hobbits by observing the four who are members of the Fellowship. (Added 28 April 2004)

The Crossing by Dien Alcyone
Frodo finds no joy in leaving Middle Earth. He and Elrond talk of rings and burdens and of success and failure. (Added 2 March 2006)

Dark Days by Mistress Arion
This is a companion piece to "No Windows." Gandalf has taken the Ring. Elrond and Aragorn offer each other physical comfort the night before their last battle against the new dark lord. No happy endings. (Added 17 December 2005)

The Eleventh Hour by Zimraphel
Tar-Miriel, the last queen of Numenor, did not escape with the other faithful. Presumably, she had her reasons. (Added 12 Feb. 2005)

From the Grey Twilight by Adrianna Pita
The ghosts who follow Aragorn from the Paths of the Dead are not all bound by the same promise. (Added 16 2005)

Gifts of Life by Fileg
Merry and Gimli discuss the presents they'll be giving Aragorn and Arwen at their wedding. (Added 21 July 2005)

Go Not From Me! by Dwimorden
Elrond does his best to help Celebrian recover after she's been captured and tortured by orcs, but he fears that the wounds may be beyond his skill. (Added 2 March 2006)

Interlude by JeannieMac
In Rivendell, before Elrond's council convenes, Arwen considers her situation and spends a little time wtih Aragorn. (Added 1 June 2005)

Jewels of the Sea by kaydee falls
The author describes this as 'a Fourth-Age hobbit fic,' and that's quite accurate. Two young hobbits sail west, trying to find the elves. (Added 17 December 2005)

Just a Thought by Afrai
Elrond has a secret weapon that helps him run meetings. (Added 28 April 2005)

The Last Night in the World by Molly J. Ringwraith
On the lonely journey to Minas Tirith, Eowyn and Merry kept each other company. Merry remembers and regrets that it was temporary. (Added 2 March 2006)

Legolas Shall Be for the Elves by Teanna
At first glance, Legolas seems an unlikely choice to represent the elves of Middle Earth in the Fellowship. This story looks at why he might have been chosen. (Added 28 April 2005)

National Treasure by Baranduin
Two archaeologists in Scotland make an unexpected discovery. They're seeking Templar ruins and find something rather different. (Added 17 December 2005)

No Windows by Telanu
This is a companion piece to "Dark Days." Gandalf took the Ring when Frodo offered it, and it corrupted him. Now, Frodo lives as Gandalf's slave so that the Shire will remain untouched. Again, no happy endings. (Added 17 December 2005)

Oak and Willow by Marnie
Celeborn and Galadriel could not have had an easy courtship. This is one view of how it could have happened. (Added 12 Feb. 2005)

One Word by Joan Milligan
Forbidding the use of a language destroys a culture. One of the exiled Noldar mourns the ban on Quenya. (Added 12 Feb. 2005)

The Price of Freedom by erin lasgalen
In this post-LotR AU, Eowyn decides not to marry but rather to travel. She ends up working as a guard captain in a southern kingdom that's facing both mundane and magical threats. There's an eventual romance with Legolas. The story needs editing badly but is still a fun read. (Added 20 April 2006)

Refraction by Kielle
Denethor tells the real story of how his wife died. (Added 21 July 2005)

Singer By the Shore by Beth
Faramir and Boromir seek out adventure and find as much as children can handle. Maglor doesn't lie to them, but he also doesn't tell them everything. (Added 2 March 2006)

Snowdrops and Bluebells by Regina L
Eowyn recovers in the Houses of Healing. Her friendship with Merry grows steadily and lets her open her heart to others. Check the author's other works for the companion piece which is a series of vignettes about ordinary people at a fair in Minas Tirith after the Shadow has passed. (Added 28 April 2005)

Those Who Remain by Marnie
Sam and Celeborn mark an anniversary together. (Added 2 March 2006)

A Word and a Kiss by Miss Kitty
When Luthien set out with Beren to steal a Silmaril from Morgoth's crown, she disguised herself as Sauron's messenger, Thuringwethil. This is how she took up the disguise. (Added 20 April 2006)
